Mrs. Yesenia Amat has been a part of Miami Dade County Public Schools for the past 22 years. She has been teaching for 18 of those years. She attended Miami Dade Community college from 1998 to 2000 where she attained an Associates in Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She began tutoring privately while studying for her career. She attended Barry University from Jan. 2001-Dec. 2002, where   she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

Mrs. Amat’s experience includes working as an After School Counselor at Rockway Elementary, as well as a paraprofessional and tutor working with third and fourth grade students in Reading and Math at Charles R Hadley. She has also worked at FIU for the Enlace, Miami Summer Enrichment program as a program assistant, working with students from sixth to eighth grade. Mrs. Amat did her internship at Charles R. Hadley teaching in a fourth  grade inclusion class. Throughout her 18 years of teaching, she has taught kindergarten, second, and third grade students.

Mrs. Amat loves working as a team with her colleagues learning and growing constantly. Her focus is her students making learning gains along with achieving goals. She makes changes to her teaching styles based on her students' needs. Her philosophy of teaching is that a teacher should have high   expectations for each of their students. With dedication, and challenging work her students will achieve their goals.
